People nowadays are concerned about their health and their figure now more than ever. Don't get me wrong- I'm all about being confident in your own body and loving yourself, but people still want to maintain their health and watch what they consume. With the new technology- HealthBelt, it'll tell the wearer about their body mass index, the number of steps they took that day, the percentage of fat gained or lost, and much more. The belt comes in all different styles with a sleek design. The HealthBelt correlates with its own app and is compatible with iOS and Android devices. On the app, the user can set a goal for themselves and track their daily metrics. The HealthBelt can link up with other wearable tech, such as smart watches. It's basically like the Fitbit, but in another stylish alternative- a belt. I think this app/invention would be a good idea for those into fitness and tech or those who simply want to sport something sleek and futuristic.

Hi Veronica,
ReplyDeleteI think a "smart belt" would be a cool idea. I know there are many smart watches that has the same features as your belt idea, but I think the belt would be a lot more convenient for many people. Many guys would prefer wearing a classic dress watch or sports watch, but Fitbits and smartwatches make this complicated. It would look extremely awkward wearing two watches at the same time and in many occasions, a dress watch is much more appropriate than a smartwatch. However, a belt is much easier to customize and oftentimes it will be covered by other clothing. I feel like a cool idea would be having the buckle functioning as the “brain” and the actual belt be interchangeable and customizable. The “HealthBelt” can partner with designer brands like Louis Vuitton and Burberry to design trendy and health conscious lifestyle apparels. This way you may always keep track of your health conditions regardless of what situation you’re in.
I've also seen some notions of smart rings which are able to do other things like contact the authority, send your partners heart beat (though i don't know if this is just a way to check if their alive or if people just want to feel their partners heart beat like that).
ReplyDeleteHi Veronica, I like this idea. But I am not sure how it measures weight and height to give you the BMI. I guess it can measure your waist size since it is a belt, but not really sure about weight and height. But I like that it syncs up with other wearable technologies (Apple Watch, Fitbit), and I think these new technologies often motivate people to keep up with the workouts and stay in shape. I hope to try the product one day!
